Let's talk about movies!

Good afternoon everyone!
:)
It's been a while that I've been thinking of dedicating a part to movies in the blog. because I believe that we all learn so much from them. because some of them make us deeply happy. some of them make us cry. because some of them can change our lives! because they make us think. make us feel we're alive!

so here we are! are you ready for starting this? for watching, enjoying, and recommending some valuable movies together?! if so; let's do it!
this part will contain pictures, reviews, some scene snapshots, substantial quotes, soundtracks and of course your comments, ideas and discussions!

OK. we have {Shawshank Redemption/1994/directed by Frank Darabont} for today. it's a movie about HOPE, that Hope can set you free and fear can hold you prisoner :

Red: [narrating] I have no idea to this day what those two Italian ladies were singing about. Truth is, I don't want to know. Some things are best left unsaid. I'd like to think they were singing about something so beautiful, it can't be expressed in words, and makes your heart ache because of it. I tell you, those voices soared higher and farther than anybody in a gray place dares to dream. It was like some beautiful bird flapped into our drab little cage and made those walls dissolve away, and for the briefest of moments, every last man in Shawshank felt free.

Andy Dufresne: That's the beauty of music. They can't get that from you... Haven't you ever felt that way about music?
Red: I played a mean harmonica as a younger man. Lost interest in it though. Didn't make much sense in here.
Andy Dufresne: Here's where it makes the most sense. You need it so you don't forget.
Red: Forget?
Andy Dufresne: Forget that... there are places in this world that aren't made out of stone. That there's something inside... that they can't get to, that they can't touch. That's yours.
Red: What're you talking about?
Andy Dufresne: Hope.

hope is a good thing, maybe the best of things, and no good thing ever dies!

Tonight I watched the best movie I've seen in a long time. It is an independent film called "The Widow's Might." It was refreshing and beautiful, and full of truth - hard to find in movies these days!

I love those quotes - they really are hopeful in the midst of hardship.

love,
cait

Ahhhh Shokoofeh you always have such good ideas! And what a start to the movie posts, Shawshank Redemption is one of my all time faves for the reasons you mention. Thank you for reminding me what a terrific movie it is and the message it carries.

While the movie quotes are wonderful. I think the best quote in this post is your own: "Hope can set you free and fear can hold you prisoner" This really gets to me...

Hugs,
Sarah
